Compass Group Canada is accelerating the transition to more sustainable, circular operations by reducing single‑use packaging across our business. This work focuses on expanding reusable systems, introducing compostable alternatives, and scaling circular packaging solutions across our sectors. These solutions help us to reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions associated with the production, transportation, and disposal of single use items. Reusable systems play a central role in this change by helping us to reduce resource consumption, minimize reliance on single use or disposable items, and promote the significant impact of single-use packaging reduction on the environment.
A key tool in our shift towards a more circular approach to our operations is offering reusable systems for our units. Compass Group Canada offers several reusable packaging systems, each with unique offerings. All are supported by monthly reporting on metrics such as emission, water and waste savings, as well as return rates.

Reusable Systems “In The Wild”
A leading Levy unit driving both sustainability and innovation is the Toronto Zoo. In 2023, Compass Group Canada (operating as Levy) partnered with Friendlier, a Canadian female-owned company, to swap single use food containers for durable, reusable options across the Toronto Zoo. Building on this success, the program expanded in 2025 through a partnership with Coca Cola, introducing branded reusable fountain cups, amplifying sustainability efforts throughout zoo operations.
